Gotham Movie Reviews
SpoilersGotham is a 2014 TV series starring all the characters that occur in the Batman comic strip series. Unfortunately they just put too much in this show and made it boring.
0 out of 10 stars. I was really disappointed. I’m a fan of Batman, but this was too many storylines all at once. I was confused, then just plain bored. There’s also a significant distortion in the facial features of many of the characters, probably to make them appear more like the comic book villains. I felt like I was watching one long episode of Farscape. Penguin can look like a normal person and still walk like a penguin. We’ll still know who he is. The same goes for Selina Kyle whose eyes are so far apart she looks like an alien.
In the first two episodes, the characters of Batman, Catwoman, and Penguin are established. Bruce Wayne’s parents are killed as Selina Kyle, the future Catwoman, looks on. Officer James Gordon tries comforting Bruce and a very British Alfred shows up to take him home. Fish Mooney has Oswald Cobblepot (the future Penguin) beaten to death with chairs and tossed in the frigid river. He survives and becomes Penguin. There’s Harvey Dent, the good guy, and Carmine Falcone, the bad guy. But none of this is very enlightening since Batman has been done over and over and over again throughout the years.
I would much rather have preferred they took a fresh take on Batman and the Batman characters and introduced them one episode at a time, rather than tossing them all in the first two episodes. When you already know what’s going to happen, it’s really boring to watch. Pull a Star Trek and rewrite history. Come up with something fresh. This is just too overdone.
